We will be holding Loyola Marymount University's first Asian Pacific American Symposium on Saturday, February 19, 2021.

Come listen to panelists Mitch Maki, the President of the Go For Broke National Education Center, and Alan Nishio, a long time advocate for the Japanese American community, as they talk about the history of Japanese Americans and World War II. 

Our second panel will explore the intersection of Asian American identities with that of other marginalized identities. Discussing this will be panelists Traci Kato Kiriyama, a queer award-winning artist, and Miss Shu Mai and Asian American drag queen.

Our third panel will be focusing on the increase of Asian American representation in the cinematic world and workplace. Speaking with us will be Lailanie Gadia, a LMU alum, and Patti Lee, an award-winning cinematographer.

Our fourth panel will be discussing Black-Asian solidarity. Our panelists will include Farzana Nayani, an author and expert on diversity and inclusion, along with LMU professors Dr. Curtis Rooks and Dr. Magaela Bethune
